There are diffrences between MPCA and MN DNR calcareous fens classifications. This field exists to contain information that may help identify those differences.
This data set is a GIS point shapefile representing the locations of calcareous fens considered to be Outstanding Resource Value Waters (ORVWs).
TRS - Legal Description. The Township, Range, and Section that the fen point falls in. The actual fen boundary may be located within more than one section. LU_DIST - Estimated or known distance of the fen point's locational uncertainty. The recorded (i.e., mapped) location of an observation may vary from its true location due to many factors, including the level of expertise of the data collector, differences in survey techniques and equipment used, and the amount and type of information obtained. This inaccuracy is characterized as locational uncertainty. FENSITENAM - Calcareous Fen Site Name as listed in the DNR List of Known Calcareous Fens. PCA_Comments - Notes about name differences between DNR and PCA, also notes on 1/4 sections. 7050_0470 - Reference to Minnesota Rule 7050.0470 listing locations of calcareous fens. Contains basin name or abbreviation plus listing number

The dataset was created to catalog ORVWs for rulemaking and regulatory purposes. This data set is a GIS point shapefile representing the locations of calcareous fens considered to be Outstanding Resource Value Waters (ORVWs).
<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN><SPAN>These are the Outstanding Resource Value Waters (ORVW) as specified by MPCA rules Minn.R. 7050.0180 and as specifically listed in Minn.R. 7050.0470 effective March 17, 2008. The points are a subset from a database received from the MN DNR that represent calcareous fens as defined in Minnesota Rules, part 8420.0935, subpart 2, with the addition of two locations that were not contained in thie original MN DNR dataest. The ORVW fens are a subset of all calcareous fens, only that subset is included in this dataset</SPAN></SPAN></P><P><SPAN /></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>

This dataset was created using the calcareous fen dataset provided by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Division of Ecological and Water Resources, a point shapefile derived from the Natural Heritgae "Biotics" Database. Staff at Minnesota Pollution Control Agency adapted and added to the original DNR dataset as needed. Locations of some fens were digitized to complete this dataset.
